Pipe Major    

Duties of  The Pipe Major 
The P/M has sole responsibility fro the quality of performance.  He/She shall appoint the Pipe Sergeant and any Corporals that may be required.  He/She shall establish reasonable standards for public performances and select or reject pipers and drummers as my best meet that standard.  He/She shall select set, tunes and settings for practice and performance.  He/She shall be assisted in the performance of these duties by the section leaders.  He/She shall also preside over all meetings in the absence of the President.

Duties of The Pipe Sergeant
The P/Sgt commonly abbreviated as "P/Sgt", is the number two person in charge of the pipers in a Scottish pipe band or pipes and drums. In terms of seniority, the Pipe Sergeant is secondary only to the Pipe Major, who is the director of bagpipe music in a pipe band. A Pipe Sergeant shares much of the Pipe Major's responsibilities in tune selection, compilation and arrangement. He or she is responsible for tuning up the band before a performance. All change in the band a briefing is necessary to the P/Sgt.

Duties of Appointed Positions
The Drum Major shall become familiar with the physical layout of the performing area and arrange for suitable band facilities in advance of all performances.  He/She shall be responsible fro checking the physical appearance of the band members before a performance.  He/She shall “front” the band during marching and show performances and in parades.

Duties of Section Leaders
The Drum Sergeant is responsible for the training and performance of the  drum section and shall establish drum settings for band tunes and sets. The drum Sergeant is selected by the members of the drum section.
